Potassium Hydroxide Flake 90%: A solid form of potassium hydroxide (KOH), a highly alkaline compound commonly referred to as caustic potash. These flakes are typically white or off-white and highly hygroscopic, meaning they readily absorb moisture from the air.

Shipped from Manchester, UK Facility: Our Potassium Hydroxide Flake 90% is sourced and packaged using non-toxic, chemical-resistant containers, ensuring reliable quality for our customers.

Frequent Uses

Buffer Preparation for Biochemical Analysis

Essential in the preparation of buffers used in the investigation of seed fatty acid composition, as well as the analysis of protein, oil, and sugar content in plant samples.

Quantification of Glutathione (GSH) and Glutathione Disulfide (GSSG)

Used in the preparation of reagents and buffers for analysing redox states in biological samples via high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Saponification

KOH is used in the production of soaps by reacting it with fats or oils in a process known as saponification. This is also useful for studying ester hydrolysis.

Stable Isotopic Profiling Studies

Allows for stable isotopic labelling studies, such as profiling the metabolic pathways of organisms like Caenorhabditis elegans.
