Living Hours Accreditation

Atom Scientific are now Living Hours Accredited, adding to our Living Wage Accreditation. Currently, only three employers in Tameside, including Atom Scientific, hold this accreditation. We are proud to be a part of this movement.

The Living Hours commitment will see everyone working at Atom Scientific guaranteed:

  • At least 4 weeks’ notice of shifts, with guaranteed payment if shifts are cancelled within this period;
  • The right to a contract that reflects accurate hours worked;
  • A minimum of 16 hours of work a week (unless the worker requests fewer).

Living Hours builds on Atom Scientific's existing Living Wage Employer commitment, which sees everyone working at Atom Scientific receive a minimum hourly pay of the real Living Wage, currently £12.60 in the UK or £13.85 in London.

Living Wage Foundation research shows that there are 3.7 million people (12%) in the UK in low paid and insecure work and nearly a third (32%) of all UK workers in full or part-time employment are given less than a week’s notice of their shifts.

Atom Scientific is a leading UK Manufacturer of IVDR Diagnostic Stains & Reagents, Chemicals, Volumetrics, Buffer Solutions, supported by an extensive range of consumables from leading brands. We offer Simple and Reliable Solutions for Science, servicing customers in countries throughout the world.

We aim to make our customers experience, friendly, efficient, and focused on their needs.

The campaign for a real Living Wage has ensured hundreds of thousands of workers are earning a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. But millions of low paid workers are also struggling to get the number and security of hours they need to make ends meet.

That’s why the Living Wage Foundation has developed a new standard of what good looks like for those employers that can offer Living Hours alongside a real Living Wage. Over 40,000 UK workers are already covered by the Living Hours measures.

Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Atom Scientific has joined the movement of responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to provide their workers with Living Hours – secure, guaranteed hours and notice of shift patterns - alongside the real Living Wage.

Atom Scientific recognises that jobs with decent pay and secure hours are essential for a modern, dynamic economy that delivers stability to workers, families and businesses.
