Phosphoric Acid 85%: Known as orthophosphoric acid with the chemical formula H₃PO₄, it is a colourless, odourless liquid that is soluble in water, making it highly versatile in various applications. With its acidic properties, Phosphoric Acid serves as a pH regulator and acidulant in food and beverage manufacturing, and in agriculture its utilised as a fertiliser additive to enhance the phosphorus content in soil, promoting plant growth and development.

ACS Conformity: Our Phosphoric Acid 85% meets the minimum purity standards set by the ACS (American Chemical Society).

Shipped from Manchester, UK Facility: Our Phosphoric Acid 85% is sourced and packaged using non-toxic, chemical-resistant containers, ensuring reliable quality for our customers.

Glass Winchester Bottle: Available in 500ml, 1L and 2.5L pack sizes. Our Glass Winchester bottles can store chemicals that may be sensitive to light due to filtering potentially harmful UV rays. Bottles are durable, versatile and perfect for storing products in the chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

Frequent Uses

Catalyst in Organic Reactions

It acts as a catalyst in the hydration of alkenes, such as the conversion of ethene to ethanol. This is a significant process in organic chemistry for producing alcohols.

Cleaning and Maintenance of Laboratory Equipment

Commonly used removing mineral deposits, such as calcium carbonate and other hard water residues, from laboratory glassware. It can dissolve lime scale and other inorganic residues that accumulate during chemical reactions or through the use of hard water.

Preparation of Buffer Solutions

Used to prepare buffer solutions in laboratories. These buffers are essential in biological and chemical experiments, as they help to maintain a stable pH, particularly in the pH range of 5 to 7. It is often used in conjunction with sodium or potassium phosphates to create phosphate buffers.

Surface Treatment and Etching

In electrochemical processes, Phosphoric Acid is used as an electrolyte solution in anodising, primarily for aluminum, to increase corrosion resistance and improve surface hardness.
