What is Hex-1-ene? It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H12 and is a colourless liquid. It is an alkene which contains six carbon atoms where the double bond is located at the alpha (primary) position.
Consistent Quality: We provide only high-quality Hex-1-ene 97% ensuring reliable and consistent performance for all applications.
Shipped from Manchester, UK Facility: Sourced and bottled in non-toxic, chemical-resistant containers to ensure safe handling and preserve product quality during transport.
Frequent Uses
Polymerisation
The primary use of hex-1-ene is as a comonomer in production of polyethylene. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) use approximately 2–4% and 8–10% of comonomers, respectively.
Chemical synthesis
Another significant use of hex-1-ene is the production of the linear aldehyde heptanal via hydroformylation (oxo synthesis). Heptanal can be converted to the short-chain fatty acid heptanoic acid or the alcohol heptanol. Hexene is used in the synthesis of flavours, perfumes, dyes and resins.
