Meet Hamish, Merchandising Lead

Hamish joined Atom Scientific in August 2022 as Merchandising Lead, bringing a strong foundation in visual presentation, digital media, and customer-focused team environments.

Having completed a BA in Photography at Farnham UCA, Hamish gained hands-on experience managing his own photography business, including selling products through eCommerce platforms such as eBay. Alongside this, he spent 13 years managing a pub and cocktail bar, developing leadership, team management, and customer engagement skills. This combination supports his contribution to delivering strong customer experiences at Atom.

Can you tell us about your role at Atom Scientific?

“I joined as an eCommerce Platform Administrator and developed the role through hands-on experience and self-training. The position has grown significantly, and I now work as the Merchandising Lead.

In this role, I am the direct line for Daniel, our Digital Merchandiser, and I am responsible for ensuring clear and effective workflows within the team. I manage our product ranges across multiple sales platforms, oversee pricing structures and Google integrations.

In addition, I work closely with our suppliers, building new connections and managing existing relationships. It is a fast-paced and varied role, which I enjoy, and it has been rewarding seeing both my own development and Daniel’s.”

What’s something you’re most proud of since working here?

“Being part of the continued growth of the brand across all online platforms. While this has been a team effort, it has been rewarding to contribute directly to that growth through the work I’ve done in merchandising.

I am also proud of developing and implementing our price lists. This was a new area for me, and I took ownership of learning the process and turning it into something that the whole team could use.”

What made you want to join the Atom team?

“I wanted a change from hospitality and was interested in the opportunity to grow with a company in a completely new role. It gave me the chance to move into a new industry and apply skills and interests I’ve had for a long time in science and technology.”
