Hydrophobic Polycarbonate (PCTE) Membrane Filters, 8.0 Micron, 25mm x 80mm

Sterlitech’s hydrophobic polycarbonate track-etch (PCTE) membrane filters offer exceptional particle retention, low non-specific binding, and minimal extractables, making them ideal for venting, chemotaxis studies, and small-particle analysis. Manufactured from a single microporous polycarbonate film, these membranes feature a smooth, translucent surface and precisely defined cylindrical pores for reliable performance in dry or non-aqueous environments.

These PVP-free filters are produced through a two-step, quality-controlled process that ensures uniform pore size distribution, high dimensional stability, and excellent visual clarity—perfect for microscopy-based workflows. The membranes are designed to repel water, with a contact angle between 78° and 88°, and are recommended for applications where wettability is not required.

Key Features

  • Hydrophobic, PVP-free surface for dry or non-aqueous applications
  • Low non-specific binding and negligible adsorption
  • Flat, smooth structure for clear microscopic observation
  • Absolutely-rated cylindrical pores with tight size distribution
  • Minimal extractables; no particle shedding or sloughing

Ideal for Venting, Dry Filtration, and Particle Analysis

Sterlitech’s hydrophobic PCTE membranes are particularly well-suited to air and gas venting, SEM and optical particle analysis, gravimetric filtration, and chemotaxis studies. Their hydrophobic nature makes them unsuitable for aqueous samples, but ideal for use with low-surface-tension fluids, dry particulates, or where sample clarity and membrane integrity are critical.

For aqueous or alcoholic filtration needs, a hydrophilic PVP-treated version is also available, optimised for improved wettability and sample compatibility.

  • Precisely controlled cylindrical pores for maximum absolute particulate capture
  • Transparent, smooth flat surface for microscopic work
  • Lowest, non-specific binding membrane
  • Narrow pore size distribution
  • No sloughing or particle shedding, one integral plastic film
  • Negligible adsorption or absorption
  • Low extractables
