Hardened Ashless Filter Papers are chemically strengthened for high wet strength and durability in demanding filtration tasks. With an ash content below 0.01%, these acid-hardened papers are ideal for quantitative gravimetric analysis involving strong acids or alkalis. Their tough, smooth surface prevents fibre shedding and enables easy recovery of precipitates without contamination. Suitable for use in Buchner funnels or pressure filtration setups, these papers are available in slow, medium, and fast grades to suit various particle sizes and flow requirements.

Grade 372: is a medium-flow, acid-hardened ashless filter paper offering reliable performance for a wide range of quantitative applications. With a nominal pore size of 5–8 µm and a filtration time of 50 seconds (DIN 53137), it balances speed and retention for gravimetric analysis in chemically aggressive solutions. Its high mechanical strength allows for residue scraping or washing, making it ideal for collecting hydroxides and trace metals in acid or alkali matrices. Grade 372 is suited for filtering moderate-to-coarse precipitates, including calcium oxalate, magnesium ammonium phosphate, barium sulfate, and various phosphates.

Application: Used when the filtration speed is not important, analysis of acid solutions.

Key Features

Medium Filtration Speed: Provides an ideal balance between flow and retention for routine quantitative work.

Chemical Resistance: Acid-hardened to handle both strong acids and alkalis without compromising integrity.

Low Ash Content: ≤0.06%, supporting clean, residue-free combustion results.

High Wet Strength: Enables precipitate recovery using spatulas or rinsing during or after filtration.

Versatile Use: Suitable for a wide range of metal and phosphate-based precipitate analysis.

  • Collection of hydroxides precipitated from strong alkali reactions
  • Filtration of trace metals in acidic or basic solutions
  • Gravimetric analysis of calcium oxalate and magnesium ammonium phosphate
  • Separation of barium sulfate and various phosphate precipitates
  • Routine analytical filtration where moderate retention and strong wet handling are required
