HI-5522 is a high grade benchtop instrument that measures measures seven parameters and incorporates dual channels with a separate temperature probe input and support external reference electrodes required by half-cell pH sensors.

Up to four conductivity calibration points can be used to increase measurement accuracy:

  • One fixed-point salinity calibration on the percent scale
  • Three methods for calculating seawater
  • Practical scale
  • Natural seawater scale
  • Percent scale

HI-5522 is an ideal research-grade instrument with large easy read graphic display and soft touch keypad.

Customise to your application

The display is customisable and can display two channels simultaneously. Measurements are given in various modes: basic measurement, with or without GLP information, graph or logging data. Display colours are also selectable.

Up to 10 profiles (5 for each channel) can be saved and recalled for both meters eliminating the need to reconfigure each time a different electrode is used. User definable configurations include:

  • Temperature compensation modes
  • Temperature units
  • Isopotential points for pH and ISE

Measuring ISE with the HI-5522

HI-5522 uses incremental methods to measure ISE and deliver faster, more accurate determinations of ion concentration.

Sample concentrations are calculated automatically then logged into an ISE method report Save up to 200 reports for future recall Repeat process on multiple samples without re-entering sets of parameters Print reports using HI-92000 PC software

Incremental techniques help to reduce errors from variables such as temperature, viscosity, pH or ionic strength. The electrodes remain immersed during the process, reducing measurement time as well as eliminating samples carry over and associated error.

Known addition, known subtraction, analyte addition and analyte subraction methods are standard.

Key features

Precision analysis

  • EC specific applications:
  • USP <645> method; salinity in seawater; TDS
  • Five point pH calibration
  • Five point pH and ISE calibration
  • Multiple input channels: pH/ORP/ISE and EC/TDS/Resistivity/Salinity

pH CalCheck

  • CalCheck for pH alerts users of calibration status and eliminates erroneous readings due to dirty or faulty pH electrodes or contaminated buffer solutions
  • After calibration, electrode condition is evaluated and overall status of pH electrode is indicated
  • To avoid taking readings with old calibrations, the instrument automatically reminds the user when calibration has expired
  • EC USP Mode

HI-5522 can use EC probes for conductivity measurements required to prepare water for injection (WFI) according to USP <645>

  • On-screen instructions explain how to perform each stage and automatically check temperature, conductivity and stability are within USP limits
  • Comprehensive results displayed on a single screen at end of the test
  • Save up to 200 reports for future recall

User friendly

  • Large log memory with different logging methods
  • Multi language support and contextual help through dedicated HELP key
  • Clear tutorial messaging on-screen - available from any mode
  • Capacitive touch keypad
  • New and improved backlit display
