What is Lactic Acid 80% ACS, FCC? Lactic acid, also known as milk acid, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H6O3. In its liquid state it is colourless. Lactic Acid is well known for its natural occurrence due to biochemical processes in humans and animals. Lactic Acid in muscles commonly occurs due to anaerobic respiration when oxygen supply is limited such as during high intensity exercise. Symptoms of lactic acid build up include muscle cramps and body aches, exhaustion and fatigue.
80% Solution: Our Lactic Acid 80% ACS, FCC is perfect for a variety of industrial and household uses.
High-Quality Formulation: Our Lactic acid meets the requirements for pharmaceutical grade and food grade classification with both the ACS (American chemical society) and FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) respectively.
No Additives: We prioritise purity, delivering only the highest quality for our customers - you can trust that our product has no preservatives or additives.
Manufactured in the UK: Our Lactic Acid is bottled using non-toxic, chemical resistant bottles, providing reliable and trusted quality to our customers.

Frequent Uses
Chemical Reactions and Synthesis
Lactic acid can be used as a precursor in polymer production. Two molecules of lactic acid can be dehydrated to the lactone lactide. In the presence of catalysts lactide polymerize to either atactic or syndiotactic polylactide (PLA), which are biodegradable polyesters. PLA is an example of a plastic that is not derived from petrochemicals.
Cleaning and Decontamination
Lactic acid is used in some liquid cleaners as a descaling agent for removing hard water deposits such as calcium carbonate.
Pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications
Lactic acid is also employed in pharmaceutical technology to produce water-soluble lactates from otherwise-insoluble active ingredients. It finds further use in topical preparations and cosmetics to adjust acidity and for its disinfectant and keratolytic properties.
Food and drink industry
Lactic acid has various uses in the food and drink industry, including as an acidity regulator, a preservative, and also in the production process of wine, beer and dairy products.
